Buying clothes for a store is not personal shopping

When shopping for yourself, it’s enough to focus on «I like» and «suits me», while when ordering for a business, you need to take into account a million criteria:

  1. Do not mix personal taste and commercial taste. It’s a big mistake to buy things simply because the store owner likes them (how many of these stores have closed after the first 2-3 orders from China).
  2. Focus on customers (what kind of people live in your city, will they appreciate your fashion experiments or do they need simple, understandable clothes).
  3. Focus on competitors (who sells what and at what prices, avoid obvious repetitions).
  4. Predict the appearance and content of the store (so that the tops and bottoms are harmoniously combined; so that the collection has common color accents; do not buy floor-length dresses if there is nowhere to display them, etc.).
  5. Don’t forget about the season and regional characteristics (somewhere they like everything black, somewhere they don’t wear length above the knee).
  6. Know your highest inner cost, markup, and retail price.
  7. Maintain a uniform level of quality. If you can easily mix luxury and H&M in your closet, then in the store it is better to have consistently the same quality.
