When shopping for yourself, it’s enough to focus on «I like» and «suits me», while when ordering for a business, you need to take into account a million criteria:
- Do not mix personal taste and commercial taste. It’s a big mistake to buy things simply because the store owner likes them (how many of these stores have closed after the first 2-3 orders from China).
- Focus on customers (what kind of people live in your city, will they appreciate your fashion experiments or do they need simple, understandable clothes).
- Focus on competitors (who sells what and at what prices, avoid obvious repetitions).
- Predict the appearance and content of the store (so that the tops and bottoms are harmoniously combined; so that the collection has common color accents; do not buy floor-length dresses if there is nowhere to display them, etc.).
- Don’t forget about the season and regional characteristics (somewhere they like everything black, somewhere they don’t wear length above the knee).
- Know your highest inner cost, markup, and retail price.
- Maintain a uniform level of quality. If you can easily mix luxury and H&M in your closet, then in the store it is better to have consistently the same quality.
